Moving to France - What to take, what to sell
Moving to France - What to take, what to sell

Packing to move abroad is a very stressful time. One way of improving this is to organise your house properly before moving. A good method is simply to get rid of everything you don’t need, think of moving as a great opportunity to spring clean.
Moving to France will be an expensive time, unlike your current life in the UK, because you already have the basics in your home. It is worth saving as much money as possible, because for the first few months, you will probably find yourself restocking cupboards, also, eating out until your kitchen is useable.
If you are using a removal company, every cubic meter will cost. If you are doing the removal yourself, every single box will count.
The coloured sticker method is a good way to organise packing. Section an area in your home to store completed boxes. Purchase high quality packing boxes, bubble wrap, lots of tape and marker pens.
Some items you will have to leave until the last minute, such as kitchen essentials.
By purchasing stickers in three colours available in most shops, allocate a colour for ‘take’, ‘sell’ and ‘not sure’. Check every room and decide what items fit into which category. This is a quick task and you do not have to make a definite decision straight away.
Your house will look odd with coloured stickers all over the place, however, it will allow you to clearly see what you need to sell in order to make some extra cash.
Moving to France will become less stressful and more enjoyable if you follow these guidelines.
