At the end of France in Languedoc-Rousillon is a small village called Prats De Mollo, about 1 hour into the mountains from Perpignan. The fort which overlooks the village is an interesting place which has been restored over the last few years. guided tours of the fort are in several languages and take around 40-60 minutes.
In the summer the fort hosts a spectacle which demonstrates ancient warfare and horsemanship.
This is a great family day out.
The fort is connected to the village through a long tunnel which is open to the public. It takes about 10 minutes to walk up through the tunnel and is not for the infirm or those who struggle to walk. That said my 3 year old managed to walk through very well.
